What is O-Week?
Orientation Week (O-Week for short) is before Semester 1 classes start - this year, it runs from Monday the 23rd of February to Friday the 27th of February. During this week, new students have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the university and start getting involved in the life of the university.
Arc@UNSW, the principal student organisation at UNSW, runs a volunteer program during O-Week. The volunteers wear distinctive yellow t-shirts and are on hand to answer any questions new (or old) students have about the university, or to point you in the right direction. After every faculty welcome, Yellow Shirts will take students on a tour of the campus to help you find your way around the campus and find some of the important services.
Yellowshirts also organise many fun events during the week, both during the day and evening. In 2009, we'll have poker competitions, jumping castles, free fairy floss and a comedy evening, as well as the traditional Thursday night dance party and Friday final night. In addition during the day, most of the student clubs and societies will set up stalls on the main walkway to attract new members and run competitions or demonstrations during the week.
If you have any questions about O-Week or the uni, please jump on to our forums and a Yellow Shirt will be able to point you in the right direction. We look forward to seeing you in O-Week!
