Faculties
As well as being a time to have fun and meet new people, Mid-Year O-Week is also a time for you to find your feet from an academic point of view. Some of the faculties have events during Mid-Year O-Week to give you a chance to find out about the academic side of University.
Most faculties run a welcome session during Mid-Year O-Week, where some general university information is covered, as well more faculty- and course-specific information. Most welcomes have a general introduction, followed by splitting into smaller degree-specific groups to cover details. They will usually explain the structure of a typical degree (in terms of pursuing various majors), as well as providing useful contact details and other resources such as style guides.
The faculty welcomes are not compulsory but it is usually worth attending, if nothing else than the chance to meet some other people in your degree.
